ACT Junior Comp

Might as well get this one started with the upcoming Junior Comp only 4 weeks away.

How are all the teams coming along.

4 teams so far with the:

Centurions

Tornadoes

Rockets (combined UC and Astros team)

and the Wildcats.

Gladiators still to confirm.

Whats everyones thoughts on the upcoming comp?

Why are you repeating what I already wrote Milehigh, are you implying that I forgot to mention the scoreline like a complete idiot or something. I think you'll find my post contains the final score and please just ignore the edited message notification and time of editing.

What an interesting day yesterday was, the high scoring game we all expected turned into a defensive game that ended up being resolved by a penalty that pushed the Wildcats away from the endzone when they really needed a 2 point conversion. The final score was 8-6 to the Centurions. The new Junior Champs.

Highlights of the match:

* The ACTG president being on hand to award the trophy to the successful junior team, why he came dressed up as the former president I don't know but hats off for showing up.

* Rumours that the Centurions have stolen the lucrative underarmour contract previously held by the Wildcats until yesterday.

* The Defensive effort of both teams, really wasn't expecting it.

* The massive drive by the Wildcats to bring the game to a nerve wracking finish.

* Me learning from various people during the match that one of the coaches for the Centurions middle name is "Francis". Apparently he cops a bit of stick about this but what's wrong with having Francis for a middle name. It could be much worse, it could be his first name ;).

Congrats to all the Centurions players and coaching staff on back to back wins in the junior competition.

BRING ON THE SENIOR COMP!!!!!

First off congrats to the Wildcats organization what they have achieved this year has been outstanding to finish as minor prems in your first season and continually put up big scores is a fantastic result credit to Jim, Dave and all the wildcats players and familes, same goes for Glads first year in Juniors started off a bit shaky start you guys finished strong congrats to Jaime and his coaching staff.

As for the big one this Sunday I'm expecting an entertaining game and both these teams are fun to watch. It's hard to go past the Wildcats as favourites the certainly have the momentum goin into this weekend, however The Centurions have been here before and Pete and Alex have been here many times so experience may tilt the odds in there favour. My tip is an entertaining game with Wildcats coming out on top they play with enthusiasm and match up well I think this will be to much for Cents but rememeber I don't know anything about winning grand finals so it could go either way lol. After a 68-0 destruction its hard to not think the Wildcats will go on to win. I'd guess the Wildcats would go in as heavy favourites.

As for the kids stepping up to Seniors. I'm pretty sure Gungahlin's QB will be playing Seniors and they don't have a QB as of yet. So if he does indeed play QB in Seniors i'm sure he will have a big impact (not sure if its positive or negative).

I also think the Centurions QB is old enough for Seniors so that will be interesting too. Add in their RB who is out for the season from injury (yet still on top of the league in scoring...crazy huh?) and there could be some impact there.

I think the only people close to Warrens level in juniors might be Ambrose, but he had the benefit of already playing seniors.

Should be an interesting Grand Final. Will be interesting to see who the crowd is going for. I will be going for the underdog.

Well I was originally going to ask for the final score for the Wildcats game on the weekend but thank you #44 for posting the results, saved me time waiting for a response. So now we have the Wildcats vs the Centurions and I have a number of questions related to both the Grand Final and seniors competition.

Question 1. Who does everyone think will win the competition, Centurions or Wildcats? Both of these teams seem to be ready to burst at the seams with pep and their thigh slapping before a kick is taken makes for entertaining viewing. My main concern is that a number of the Wildcat players are entering the grand final suffering severe concussion as I kept hearing various players shouting "Who are we?" throughout the course of the match. If you still haven't figured out which team your with by the Grand Final go to the ER at your nearest hospital for a scan stat.

2. Having missed their last encounter which I hear was a close one are people expecting another close game or a blow out by one of the teams?

3. Are any players from either of these teams coming up to seniors this year? If anyone knows of players who are I would like to know the following items:

Item 1: Who will make the biggest impact in the Seniors comp in their first year? (any position)

Item 2: Who is everyone from Seniors looking forward to coming up to so they can put a hit on them if the opportunity presents itself? (e.g. some annoying kid that's a big fish in a little pond that talks it up in Juniors)

Item 3: Who is everyone from Seniors nervous about coming up that will put a hit on them if the opportunity presents itself (e.g. Warren, a shark in a little pond that upgraded to a bigger feeding area in his first year in Seniors)

And just to clarify, if you can see that this post has been edited, it wasn't to remove any insulting comments, it's because I can no write the Engrish vewy good some time and had to make edits.

Boy was I wrong. Wildcats won 68-0, Centurions got up 37-12 or something of that nature. Looking forward to the GF this Sunday!

Just like their seniors, the Gladiators seem to be getting better as the season continues, I think they have a real chance in upsetting the Wildcats, I don't see the Centurions having too much trouble with the Tornadoes but you never know.

Hi there Jake the Snake, I'm trying to work out what's upset you so much. All I did was answer his question about what used to fire me up when I used to play. I was just being honest. I don't recall saying anyone's name or that it was even related to gridiron in general, simply "people giving bad advice". Said bad advice falls into the category of "Glad wrap is just as good protection as a rubber", "Have one more drink, what's the worst that can happen" etc, etc, etc.

I've never listened to music to fire up and if you don't like the fact bad advice pisses me off there's not much I can do to help you with that. I'd love to get into a name calling contest and respond to your "knob" comment but to be honest that stuff just makes me laugh as people are more than happy to write what ever they want to online where they don't have to say it to someone's face (like me :) ).

If you don't like what I'm writing then don't read it champ.

Can anyone please confirm who the coaches for the Wildcats Junior squad are please. The reason I am asking is I could have sworn that I saw Spook formerly of the Gladiators and Tornadoes on their sideline and if he is their line coach then they have an unfair advantage as he is clearly and undoubtably one of the most dominant and experienced lineman in the competition who's wealth of experience is a boon for any team he is on... ;).

Yes Chimp i am affiliated with the Gungahlin Wildcats. I told Coach Luds that i would join as soon as i found out the club was coming together.

As for me with the juniors no i do not declare myself as a Linemen coach or any sort of coach. I am merely there to help support the team, and help Coach 'Stoney' & 'Superman' as best i can.
