Just wondering what had happened to the official Gridiron Victoria Website?

Can anyone shed some light on the subject?

Hi All,

theBEAR.com.au officially withdrew as a Gridiron Victoria sponsor last week and as such, that includes the GV web site.

This has been an ongoing issue for several weeks and was not a decision i came to lightly - especially after 6 years of sponsorship and the great things theBEAR.com.au and the Forums have been able to achieve for GV in the way of scheduling games and subsidies on uniforms and equipment.

I understand that the Forums can allow opinions that may not be in the best interest of any league - but they are a public forum and as such - are "publicly" moderated. However, after being personally attacked several times for my & other peoples comments by members of the GV committee - it was time to walk away.

I wish everyone in GV all the best for the future and will remain an enthusiastic player, fan and part time official.

Well be prepared for the usual knockers, I'm sure they'll be coming thick and fast.

But before anyone decides to make a judgement call, it might be worth considering the amount of time that Bear puts into the game.  Quite apart from this site and he work over the years at a commitee level on the Rangers and work at GV, plus setting up a store that has helped players over the country get gear, on top of that he probably works longer hours at his job than anyone I know.

No knocking from me HO. Just a quick question for the Bear - any idea where i could get my hands on a GV schedule now that the GV sites gone? What are the chances you could stick one on here somewhere?

I am sure the league can afford to host it elsewhere.  Only about $150 per year. However a seamless transition would of probably made more sense, considering it is the only "official" point of information on GV.

It's unfortunate that personal issues become detrimental to the league. But i guess it has been that way for 15 years.

I support YOU Bear.  Having spoken about the issues prior to the pulling of your sponsorship I agree totally with you.

So bear, the "puppy" you took on 4 years ago has turned into an annoying mongrel, so you dump it, switch it off and wipe your hands of it?? Huh?

What's the story? Did you try to pass it onto someone else to look after? Try to organise something for the meantime? (Not trying to be negative, but it looks like ---- and smells like ----, so, is it ----?)

Brett,

I'm sure the league would be happy to hand this over to you if you like?

Without going into details, my sponsorship of the league was exactly that - sponsorship. I dedicated my time and resources to assisting the league in general and once people within the GV committee started accusing me of bringing the league into disrepute - like any sponsor - i served the league notice to withdraw these services.

I hope this helps clean things up for you and the little puppy.
