AaronM,

Again you are missing the point of the thread. And I can't be bothered explaining it in baby words for you guys. "Paying to play" narrows the topic to our level of play. This was intended to be a discussion of an ethical nature. Millions of dollars pass hands in the NFL, money exchange is limited to the coaching ranks in the NCAA and well down here we put our own money into the league. Never the less, and let me put this here one more time for those who are having trouble comprehending the lead...

"With the likes of Terrell Owens, Tiki Barber and Randy Moss among a few others who speak out when they have a particular beef with their coach or a team mate, I'd like to ask... When is it cool to get back at that player by keeping them out of the club or league record books?"

Let me point out that there is no mention of 'leaving your club' or 'if you pay or get payed to play'.

Heya again

I guess I have got it all wrong.. But after 3 hours of sleep its all clear BigGrin

I would say never. I guess a similar comparison could be made to Gary Ablett in the AFL, he has had some off field issues since his retiremet, that many believe has delayed his entry into the AFL Hall of Fame. Even though the off field activities have nothing to do with the way he played football.

Its the sad prospect of everything now days, that politics enter into fray before the recognition of pure skill.

Cheers

A

I don't think it's "cool" to deliberately target a former players' records, I'd say the term would be satisfying. The better option is to simply win once the player has left the team, it implies that they were a cancer who held the rest of the team back.

WOW, HO!!!

You are a harsh man! What makes a successful player a cancer? And what happens when that plan back fires? Then you're really in a crap situation. Because, not only have you tried a $h*t way to get back a player who has obviously produced for you (The Coach) over the years. But you've also lost focus on the teams goal of "Winning". All because you couldn't simply sort out your issues as men? Playmakers don't just drop from the sky!

it looks to me that some people here either ..can't read,or dont Understand what they read?!?!?

Me as a foreigner with english not even being my second language i understand what this is all about!

i think it is wrong if all of a sudden the coach/team wants to move into another direction which limits/kills your chances of breaking a record and getting into the books!

you have worked hard to get so close and then being pushed to the side is not the right thing to do ,but thats just my opinion!

don't just talk...just do it!
