yes, ours are including preliminary and grandfinal games - as does Uni's according to the Uni website:

Out of the 300 games, 45 of them (15%) have been playoff or championship games.

wondering if Darren Mitchell might like to ask for that plaque back and express post it the Hogs camp Tongue

In all seriousness though - congrats on the 300 guys and well done on such a successful history!

FTR - the exact breakdown as of today:

Reg season games : 227 wins, 43 losses & 6 draws = TOTAL 276

Finals games: 29 wins, 8 losses = TOTAL 37

just spoke to our league statistician - she corrected the numbers:

300th game played on Dec 20th 2008

Reg season games: 228 wins, 44 lost, 8 drawn. - total 280 (81.43%)

Finals games: 29 won, 8 lost - total 37 (78.38%)

TOTAL games: 257 wins, 52 lost, 8 drawn - total 317 (81.07%)

none of these wins/losses include forfeited matches or cancellations due to weather etc. I'm guessing you don't included Forfeited wins in your 300 total either?

Shacky,

Thanks for the heads up.  I put the "first to 300" claim out there knowing that someone would shoot it down if I was wrong.  I will go back and edit the article on our website.  I frankly did not appreciate your team was so dominant down there.

By the way, I tried to put a club championship event together between the NSW, Qld, Vic and ACT champions 2 seasons ago.  We found a window around the Labour Day week-end where we could all play and I had a venue and accommodation lined up, but I could not get sponsorship and it proved too much for the other clubs to handle.  If the Razorbacks are interested, then we should put our heads together to see if we can come up with a way to make a club event work.  The Stingrays were the most interested of the other clubs the last time I tried.

yeah, the logistics and cost involved would always be prohibitive for an event of this kind... virtually no chance in getting all side's 'complete teams' to attend such a competition.

Perhaps an off season 'mandatory training session' in Mildura (or somewhere in the middle) might be necessary Wink

All cost's and logistic issues aside, that would be a pretty good tournament.

Are we able to find things like each teams for and against for the 2009 seasons?

will the real ballers please stand up Cool

I remember reading somewhere on the GA website not long ago about a proposed national club championship, where the top 2 sides from each state would compete.  I think the idea was for it to be held in 2011 or 2012???

Yeah, GA announced it to be held beginning 2012. Though whether it will actually end up happening is very questionable with all the costs associated and timing it all, though if they are planning it already and working these things out they have plenty of time to make it happen.

I just wanted to ask a question in regards to Wolfpack.

Now I don't think I am close to good enough to play so please don't think I am a disgruntled player who wasn't chosen.

But I noticed that there were a few Sharks players listed on the squad. How was this decision made as most of their team have never played a proper game of 11 man football? I watched them play against the Predators (well 1/3 of the Predators) in the 7 a side exhibition match and they were thrashed 38 - 0 or something similar.

Was this decision made to give them some confidence/experience? As I would have thought that you needed to play regular season games to get selected. I understand wanting to give them experience but it means that their are players (who may have just missed selection) from teams who played all season are missing out for guys who haven't even played a full game before which seems unfair.

Anyway not trying to take away from the guys who were selected just wanted to know the process.

Good luck guys and kill those dirty Melbournites!

From what I have heard all gridironNSW teams (which the sharks are one) were asked to submit a list of players they thought were suitable for the state side. On top of this wolfpack coaches were scouting at games (including the GF warm up game) checking the submitted list and adding other players.

From that selection a number of A candiate players were named (players that have demonstrated a skill set that suits the proposed schemes and from game day play, the coaches believe are ready to contribute at state) and a number of B candiadates named (good players that dont fit the A category for some reason eg they were injured and didnt play as much, are good but dont nessesarily fit the scheme but the coaches want another look etc)

If you look at the list at the league website the sharks players are only listed in the category B candiates. So from my personal rational I would believe that they are players that have been identified as having some raw talent and the coaches would like to see them tested and what they can do in contact drills.

This is my understanding, I am sure coach19 will jump on and clarify if i have made some.

On a personal note if the sharks players are training hard, learning the game and can contribute to another winning Wolfpack squad I am all for their inclusion.

Thanks G-Unit.

As I said I wasn't trying to talk them down I just wasn't sure what the process was.

Best of luck to the Wolfpack - kick some butt!
