AF1 ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL 2010 SCHEDULE

TULSA – The League Office of Arena Football One announced today that it has released their inaugural 2010 schedule.

The 18 Week regular season kicks off Friday, April 2, 2010 with Spokane hosting Milwaukee and will wrap up Saturday, July 31, 2010. AF1 playoffs will be contested in August culminating with a Championship Game. The complete schedule is located under the FanZone tab at arenafootballone.com, but note that dates and times are subject to change to accommodate a National broadcast agreement and a game of the week.

"After the tireless work of our team owners and league office staff, we are pleased to release our 2010 Season schedule,” said Commissioner Jerry Kurz. “We ensure that Arena Football fans will get the high-level of competition and entertainment that they have grown accustomed to, expect and deserve.”

-About AF1-

Tim Marcum, Tampa Bay Storm head coach, puts it best:

"We won't put a 17-million dollar office in New York City. We can't afford that. We won't play our players 100-200 thousand dollars. We can't do it the economic model just doesn't work.

"It's old time arena football, the way it was meant to be. And we'll go play, put on a good show. So that's what its all about. And I think that's why it'll be successful."

The key details:
15 teams; 16 game season; 35 players allowed to come to camp; $1,000 per game salary with practices at night; and season ticket packages (at least in Tampa Bay) starting at $50!

So, it's highly likely it's not going to be the same Arena Football playing standards either ... perhaps AF2. Whatever the case, Coach Marcum is a legend, and I'll be dragging the wife and kids up to see the Storm often as I can...
