Good afternoon potential Outbackers,I apologise for the delay getting this information out to you all – I know a few of you have been waiting for this – but we are now ready to begin our strength & conditioning program with an eye towards the 2011 World Cup. We have a team of coaches who will be assisting you to gain strength, speed, and power in the lead up to the World Cup, as well as helping to improve your recovery and injury management. It is expected that all players that wish to be considered for selection will participate in this program over the next 14 months.
At this stage the conditioning program will consist of weights training to be completed between two and four times a week, depending on what part of your season and training cycle you are in. A running program will follow – this is still being developed at the moment. If you have any particular injuries, medical conditions, or any other issues that need to be considered in a training program then your state S&C coaches will be able to assist you with this. A list of available coaches is included in the resources that will be sent to participating players.
